Logging food
Tap the green + in the middle of the tab bar. From there you can:
- Search — type a name and pick from the built-in list, USDA FoodData Central, or Open Food Facts
- Scan — tap the barcode icon in the search field and point the camera at a packaged product
- Photograph — tap Camera, and Calomi suggests what it sees. Correct it if the guess is wrong; the calorie figure is always editable
Nothing is final. Tap any entry to change the amount, the category, the time, or the calories.
The barcode isn't found
Calomi looks the code up in Open Food Facts, a free community database. Not every product is in it, and coverage varies by country. Search the product name instead, or type the calories from the label. Scanning also needs a connection.
Where the calorie target comes from
By default Calomi uses your own energy use: a basal rate from your weight, height, age and sex (Mifflin-St Jeor), plus the steps and workouts of that day. That is why the target moves as you move.
To set a fixed number instead, go to Me → Daily calorie target and type one. Leave it empty to go back to the automatic figure.
Apple Health isn't syncing
Open Me → Settings → Apple Health and tap Check access. If it says access is off, turn Calomi's categories on in the Health app under Sharing → Apps, then tap Sync now.
Calomi reads steps, workouts, body weight and active energy, and writes back only the workouts and weigh-ins you record in Calomi. Sync covers the last seven days.
Reminders aren't arriving
Check that notifications are allowed for Calomi in iPhone Settings → Notifications. Reminder times are set in Me → Meal Reminders.
Reminder text is prepared when the reminder is scheduled. If you change your iPhone's language, open Meal Reminders once so they are rewritten in the new language.
Measuring a portion
On iPhone models with a LiDAR sensor, Calomi can estimate the volume of what is on the plate. Hold the phone steady over the food with some of the table or plate visible around it. If the reading is not reliable enough to use, Calomi says so rather than showing a number you should not trust — you can still keep the photo.
Moving to a new iPhone
Sign in to the same Apple Account and your records arrive through iCloud. For an extra copy, use Me → Settings → Export backup before you switch, and Restore from backup afterwards. Restoring replaces everything currently in Calomi.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes what is on the device. Records kept in iCloud can be removed in iPhone Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage.
Languages
Calomi is available in English, Korean and Japanese, and follows your iPhone's language. To use a different one for Calomi alone, go to iPhone Settings → Calomi → Language.
Food search is separate from the interface language — you can search in Korean on an English phone, and the other way round.
A note on what Calomi is
Calomi is a logging tool. Its figures are estimates, not measurements, and it is not medical advice. Talk to a professional about decisions that matter to your health.
