Calomi has no account and no advertising. There is nothing to sign up for, and the developer never receives your food entries, photos, weight, or health data.

What you record stays on your iPhone and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud storage. Calomi does use Google's Firebase Analytics to see how the app is used. What that covers, what it never includes, and how to turn it off are set out under Usage statistics.

What Calomi stores

Calomi keeps the things you enter so it can show them back to you:

Food and drink entries — name, calories, protein, carbohydrate, fat, category, and time
Photos you take or choose for an entry
Workouts — type, duration, and estimated calories
Weigh-ins
Your profile — the name you choose to be greeted by, height, date of birth, sex, and calorie target
Your settings, reminders, and exercise schedule

All of it is written to your device. None of it is sent to the developer.

iCloud

If you are signed in to iCloud, Calomi syncs your records across your own devices using Apple's CloudKit private database. This is your personal iCloud storage, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. The developer cannot see or access it.

If you are not signed in to iCloud, Calomi works exactly the same and keeps everything on the device only.

Apple Health

Calomi asks for Apple Health access so your activity and weight stay consistent with the rest of your phone. You choose what to allow, and you can change it at any time in the Health app.

Calomi reads: steps, workouts, body weight, active energy.

Calomi writes: workouts, body weight, and active energy — only what you record in Calomi.

Health data is used on your device to work out calories and activity. It is never sent anywhere by Calomi.

Photos and camera

Photos you attach to an entry are saved inside Calomi on your device. When you photograph a meal, Calomi uses Apple's on-device Vision framework to guess what the food is — the picture is analysed on your iPhone and is not uploaded.

Photos are included in a backup only if you export one yourself.

Food search

When you search for a food or scan a barcode, Calomi sends the words you typed, or the barcode number, to look up nutrition information from:

Japan's Standard Tables of Food Composition are built into the app, so searching them sends nothing.

Nothing else travels with a search request. Your name, weight, meal history, photos, and device identifiers are not included, and Calomi does not tell these services who is asking. Their own privacy practices apply to what they log about incoming requests.

Usage statistics

Calomi uses Google's Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used, so it can be improved. It is on by default and can be turned off at any time.

What Calomi records: which way a meal entry was started, whether a favourite was used, the input method and whether a photo was attached when a meal was saved, the length and writing system of a search that found nothing, reaching a goal weight, and your answer to the notification prompt.

What Firebase collects automatically: app opens and first open, session starts and time spent in the app, screens viewed, app version, device model and operating system version, a random identifier for this installation of the app, and basic diagnostic information about that installation. An approximate location, such as country or region, may be derived by Google from the connection's IP address.

What is never sent: food names, anything you type in your own words, the words of a search, your weight, calorie and nutrient figures, photos, and the text of error messages.

This information is sent to Google's servers and is handled under Google's Privacy Policy. It is not linked to your identity, not used for advertising, and not used to track you across other companies' apps or websites. Calomi does not access your device's advertising identifier.

Turning it off: open the profile tab, tap Settings, and switch off Share usage statistics. This stops both what Calomi records and Firebase's automatic collection.

Notifications

Meal and weigh-in reminders are scheduled on your device by iOS. No server is involved, and no notification content leaves your iPhone.

Backups

You can export a backup file containing your entries, photos, workouts, weight, and settings. The file goes wherever you choose to save it, and Calomi does not send it anywhere. Keep it somewhere private.

What Calomi does not do

No accounts, no sign-in, no email collection
No crash-reporting service
No advertising and no advertising identifier
No tracking across apps or websites
No selling of data, and nothing you record is shared

Deleting your data

Deleting Calomi from your iPhone removes what it stored on the device. Records synced to your iCloud can be removed in iPhone Settings under your name → iCloud → Manage Storage.

Children

Calomi is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. The usage statistics described above are not linked to anyone's identity.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
